Career
Before focusing primarily on visual art, McBain built a career across fashion, design, retail and hospitality.
She founded Savage Eyewear, a nationally distributed sunglasses label known for bold fashion design, and later created I Love Candles, a retail concept that operated three stores across the Sunshine Coast.
She also founded Foxy on Coolum, a restaurant and live-performance venue that hosted local and international artists and became part of the cultural life of the region.
During the COVID-19 period, McBain redirected her focus toward visual art, making it the centre of her professional practice.
Her background in fashion and design continues to influence the structure of her work — particularly her use of shape, contrast, rhythm and movement.
Artistic Practice
McBain’s practice moves across changing subjects rather than remaining confined to one genre.
