Beach Gossip — Contemporary Seagull Art Print

Seagulls rarely just standing around.

There is always something going on, one calling out, one watching, one looking unimpressed by the whole situation. That is what I wanted to paint.

I love the way seagulls gather in little groups and somehow seem to have their own conversations. There is so much attitude in the way they stand, look at each other and react to whatever is happening around them.

This piece is about that familiar beachside theatre. The centre bird looks as though it has something important to announce, while the other two seem to be deciding whether they agree.

It made me smile while I was creating it, and that is exactly what I wanted to keep in the finished work, humour, character and that slightly chaotic energy that belongs so naturally to life by the sea.
