Little Cove Noosa

Little Cove is one of those places I never tire of.

What I love most is the transition into it — coming down through the trees, catching glimpses of blue between the branches, and then suddenly the beach opens up in front of you. The light changes constantly there. Strong shadows fall across the path and steps, while the sand and water beyond feel almost impossibly bright.

That contrast is what made me want to paint it.

I didn’t want to create a perfect postcard version of Noosa. I wanted the feeling I recognise when I arrive there: people already settled under their umbrellas, someone stretched out in the sun, the ocean moving quietly beyond them, and that little moment when you realise there is nowhere else you particularly need to be.

The dark trees and railings gave me the structure of the composition, while the blues, warm sand and flashes of orange allowed me to bring my own colour and energy into the scene.

For me, Little Cove holds something very simple — the pleasure of arriving somewhere familiar and still being excited to see it.

It is a Noosa coastal artwork, but more personally, it is a painting of one of those places that makes me feel proud of my home.
