Surf Whisperer came from watching the confidence of women around the ocean — that combination of strength, freedom and complete ease in their surroundings.

I wanted her to feel calm rather than posed. The wind, the board and the movement of her hair do most of the talking. The bright colour gives the work its energy, while her stillness gives it balance.

For me, this one is about that feeling of belonging near the sea. You don’t need to be surfing to recognise it.
