Each limited-edition canvas is recorded in the Ilana McBain Registry of Authenticity & Provenance and supplied with a signed Certificate of Authenticity identifying the artwork and its individual edition number.
The registry maintains a private record of provenance throughout the life of the work. If ownership changes in the future, the new collector can be registered with the Studio and an updated record of provenance issued.

Split Yet Whole came from thinking about how many different parts can exist inside one person — confidence and doubt, strength and softness, independence and the need to belong.
I have always been interested in faces because we read so much into them, often without knowing the full story. In this piece, I deliberately broke the figures into strong shapes, different colours and shifting expressions. At first they appear separate, but the longer you look, the more they begin to connect.
That is where the title came from.
We can feel divided at times — by experience, by relationships, by the different roles we play — and still remain completely ourselves. None of those parts cancels out the others. Together, they are what make us whole.
Visually, I wanted this contemporary abstract figurative artwork to feel strong and immediate. The bold colour draws you in first, and then the faces begin to reveal their different personalities.
For me, Split Yet Whole is a reminder that being complicated is not the opposite of being complete. Sometimes all those different pieces are exactly what make us interesting.
