The Lineup

The Lineup captures the shared anticipation that defines time in the surf before a wave is taken.

A group of surfers move through shifting bands of blue as waves rise, break and reform around them. Some are paddling forward, some are watching, and others are already caught in the energy of the swell. Together, they create a composition full of rhythm, motion and suspended possibility.

Rather than focusing on a single surfer, The Lineup looks at the collective experience of the ocean — the unspoken awareness between people reading the same conditions, waiting for the right moment and responding to the sea in real time.

Bold colour, simplified forms and layered water movement give the work both immediacy and structure. The painting carries the freedom and vitality of surf culture while remaining composed enough to hold its place as a statement work within a contemporary interior.
