The Lineup is about that moment before it’s your turn.

Some surfers are already up and riding, while others are still paddling, watching and waiting for the right wave. I wanted to capture that mixture of excitement and patience — seeing someone ahead of you succeed while knowing your own opportunity is coming.

For me, that is part of what makes surfing so compelling. You watch, you learn, you wait, and then suddenly it’s your moment.

Each open edition print is professionally produced on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine art paper, chosen for its smooth surface and ability to reproduce colour and detail beautifully.

A 12-colour fine art printing process captures the depth, tonal variation and strong colour that are central to Ilana McBain’s work. The acid-free, FSC-certified paper and fade-resistant inks are selected for lasting quality.
