A tin of sardines is one of them. It is such a simple, familiar object, but it carries so much visual history with it — old kitchens, market shelves, Mediterranean food, vintage packaging and everyday design that somehow becomes iconic.

One of my influences is Andy Warhol, and I have always loved the way he could take an ordinary, recognisable object and make us look at it differently. That idea has always stayed with me — that something from everyday life can become art simply because of how we choose to see it.

I wanted to keep the familiarity of the object, but make it bold, playful and unmistakably my own through colour, shape and composition.

For me, it feels both retro and contemporary at the same time. It belongs to another era, yet it still feels completely relevant now. That timelessness is what I love most about it — a classic image, reimagined with humour, colour and personality, that I think can always find a place in a modern interior.
