Wave Chasers captures the moment before the ocean takes over.

A group of surfers move across the sand beneath an oversized sun, boards tucked under their arms as they head towards the water. The composition is simple and graphic, but the feeling is immediately familiar — anticipation, heat, friendship and the pull of the next wave.

The elongated boards create strong horizontal movement across the work, while the figures beneath them become part of a larger rhythm of colour, shadow and coastal light. Rather than showing surfing itself, the painting focuses on the ritual surrounding it: the walk to the water, the conversation along the way and the quiet excitement of what may be waiting beyond the shoreline.

Wave Chasers is about movement towards something — the optimism of setting out, the freedom associated with the sea, and the instinct to keep searching for the next experience.

With its clear forms, warm sun and saturated coastal palette, the work brings an easy confidence and distinctly Australian sense of summer into a contemporary interior.
